Meet the Acadia Acres Team

SANDY WELSH, Manager

Sandy is from Maine and Ocala depending on the weather! She has worked in the equine industry for so many years she's not counting anymore. From showing hunt seat at an early age to eventing and most recently classical and western dressage, Sandy has dabbled in most disciplines. She managed Puckerbrush Farm in Newburgh, Maine for many years, hosting 13 shows a year, caring for 27 horses, and offering lessons and clinics. She offers freelance lessons in dressage and basic horsemanship when she's not busy seeing that Acadia Acres is in top notch form!

IZZY MCKAY, Owner

Izzy is a retired forester and a recovering lawyer.  She spends her time in Maine on a self-sustaining farm with horses, goats chickens, a boarding facility, and more.  Her horse, Oliver, was the reason Acadia Acres became reality. He needed a permanent winter home for continued schooling and Izzy wanted him to live in style!  Ollie is a Gypsy/Haflinger cross who rides and drives.

Julie Grennan, our 'handyman'

Julie and Sandy met a few years ago while training Julie's pony to drive.  Julie moved to Ocala from Miami where she owned and managed a show barn.  Jumping into everything we do at Acadia Acres was no big deal. She can be seen on the back of a training horse, up on a ladder in the attic, or pruning the limbs from a big oak tree....just another day at the farm!

Reyna Ortiz is the owner of Central Sunshine Cleaning Services, LLC and she has been with Acadia Acres from the start in 2018.  Her company helped us through the renovation phases of our homes and she is responsible for keeping our homes spotless for the guests of Airbnb and horse shows.  We have a 5 * rating on Airbnb thanks to Central Sunshine Cleaning Services, LLC!
